"Ramadan is a momentum to start paying attention to our relationship with the environment. We can show gratitude by maintaining cleanliness and preserving the environment," he expresed, in the Jakarta Provincial Government's press release, Tuesday (3/19).

According to him, implementing "Green Ramadan" was very easy and could be applied in each home. The first is it can be started by reducing food waste by cooking enough food, according to your needs, and eating the remaining iftar dishes to eat again at dawn.

"Principally, we reduce food loss, such as when distributing food in markets and reduce food waste or wasteful attitudes in consumption," he asserted.

The second is saving water, such as when performing wudu.

"When performing ablution, make sure to use water efficiently. Close the tap when not in use and only use as much water as is necessary for each step of the wudu, and use the water used from the wudu to water the plants," he explained.

The third is reducing single-use plastic when shopping. Such as using reusable food and drink containers, and avoiding buying food and drinks for breaking the fast in single-use plastic packaging.

"Hopefully, the use of reusable bags in Jakarta will be maximized this Ramadan, as the Environment Agency has provided places for spunbond reusable bags in traditional markets, hope they can be used," he explained.

The last is encouraging all residents to use energy more wisely, such as turning off lights and electronic equipment when not in use. He urged all that it must be done for a better environment.

"By protecting the environment, we have shown our gratitude. Hopefully, this year's Ramadan will be a Ramadan full of blessings and benefits for ourselves, others, and the environment," he closed.
